PATRIOTIC SHOP.
Saturday last was “Men’s Day” at the shop, and brisk business was done. The sheep weighed 55 lbs., which weight was guessed by Mrs A. Morgan and Mr W. Petrie, while Miss Lorna Robinson won (he turkey, and kindly handed it back for the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund. Gifts are acknowledged from Mesdames A. Crowe, F. Robinson, H. Thynne, Woodroofe, J. H. Robinson, A. S. Easton, W. E. Barber,, John Robinson, Daniell, Satherley, A. King, Geo, Rough, Kellow, Henricksen, T. Harper, M. Griffin, Misses Thynne, Sntherlev, Messrs Mark Newt'h, Dr. Mnndl, W. E. Barber. On Saturday next Mrs Kellow and Miss Signal will have charge, and the competitions will ho, weightguessing, for a pig and a raffle for a hamper containing four jars pickles and four jars of jam, all homemade. The Shop Committee Avould be pleased if those Avho have jam jars from the shop Avould return same, as the return of the jar is an essential condition of gifts. The Secretary of the Patriotic Society acknowledges Avith thanks from the tire-fighters of last Tuesday’s conflagration a cheque of £2O, through the Foxton Cordage Co., Ltd., toAvards the Wounded Soldiers' Fund.
