FOXTON PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the annual report to be submitted at the annual meeting of the Society to be held this evening;— The year started with funds in hand of £1,788 4s 4d, and ended with £3,218 11s 9d, of which £2,495 5s lOd is on deposit at the Post Office, and £529 Gs lOd at the Bank of New Zealand, while the current account at the bank stands at £193 9s Id. Patriotic Shop: The Shop continues to be our best source of revenue, the amount raised during the year being £GBB 17s 7d, of which amount £264 8s 9d was for special purposes. The thanks of the Society are again due to the ladies who have controlled the shop for the consistent and loyal work. Patriotic Boxes: The collection of money by means of the household boxes was discontinued early in the year. Donations: The donations amount to £469, and to those gentlemen who have so consistently subscribed we extend, our hearty thanks. Assistance to Returned Soldiers; The amount granted to returned soldiers during the year was £93 9s lid, making a total of £175 since the inception of the Society. This is a small outlay, and must not be considered as a guide for the future. The Future: From present appearances the Second Division will go forward, and consequently the Society will have to find more funds to provide for not only the soldiers* requirements, but also of their families. Renewed efforts should therefore be made to raise £2,000 during the present year. Thanks: Your Committee wish to thank the “Manawatu Herald” for reporting meetings, Messrs H. Andresen and A. Smith for cartage of the Society’s goods free of cost, Mr Bullard for assistance at the Patriotic Shop, and Mr Healey for kindly aiding as receiver of patriotic monies.
