A PUBLIC CONVENIENCE.

DISCUSSED BY THE COUNCIL

At Monday night’s Borough Council meeting Cr Stevenson moved, and Cr Hurley seconded, that a public urinal be erected close to Main Street, the site to he left in, the hands of the Works Committee. Cr Stevenson said since the early dosing of hotels it was an offence for persons to use licensed premises and disgusting practices had taken place in Main Street, which should be prohibited, and could be avoided if public conveniences were erected. The motion was supported by other Cmmcillors. The Mayor said he was in sympathy with the spirit of the proposal, but without a water supply the proposal presented grave difficulties. The motion was finally carried by six votes to three.
