The Upper House of the “Tynwald,” or Parliament of the Isle of .Man, consists of eight members only. A boy’s hair grows one-half slower than'a girl’s. In hoys the average rate of growth is 3ft. Sin. in six years, being an average of .018 per day. Between the twentyfirst and twenty-fohrth years a man’s hair grows quicker than at any other period. The boatswain, or “bo's’n,” as he is colloquially and naulically called, w;is once a hoy servant. Now lie is the subordinate officer in charge of the rigging, anchors, cables, and cordage, and he summons the crew for evolutions with his whistle and assists the executive officer. The greatest number of men ever employed on one structure was in connection with the Gizeh Pyramid, where 7,000,000 men were in forced labour. This pyramid is 450 ft. high, and covers an area of 13 acres, twice the dimensions of any other building in the world. In one instance it took 2,000 men three years in bringing a single stone from the quarry.
