BOWLING.
The Manawatu Bowling Centre’s Easter Tournament, which opened on the Palmerston North' and .Terrace End greens on Good Friday, was interfered with to some extent by the unfavourable weather conditions. Owing to the rain the first round had to be abandoned, a win being recorded to all the teams. With this exception all the matches were played, but in none-were the conditions favourable to good bowling. Fifty rinks took part, representing clubs as far north as Te Kuiti and New, Plymouth, and a number from Wellington, Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay. Foxton was represented . by one rink, Hooker, Christie, Nye, F. Whibley (s). Oh Saturday D. "Whibley played in place of Christie.' The following are the details of the games played, the Foxton rink’s score be-, ing given last in each instance: — Jury, Dingle, Rennell, Abbott (s) (Fitzroy), 24 —14. - Hunt, Lowrie, Upchurch, Rees (s) (Marton), 20—15; Steele, 'Walsh, Wakeman, Ransom (s) (Pahialua), Hi —2(5' Sutherland, Lincoln, Beeson, Parkinson (s) (St. Leonard’s), 27 —10. Varnam, Champion, Evans, McKenzie (s) (Taihape), 22 —11. Read, Downey, Underwood, Braekenridge • (s) (Newtown), 23 —19. R. Lumbie, Julian, W. Lumbie, Mason (s) (Pihama), 22 —13. At the conclusion of play yesterday afternoon the following were still left in: Sharp (Stratford) and Mason (Pihama), each 8 wins and one loss; Fisher (Carterton), 7 wins 1 loss, 1 game unfinished; Fraser (St. John’s), Pern 7 (Masterton), Ogilvie (Gonville), London (Wanganui), Laurenson (Terrace End), Fountain (Haitaitai), and McGirr (Sentoiin), each 7 wins and 2 loss* es. The semi-finals are being played to-day, and the final will take place to-morrow.
