IN AID OF THE RAETIHI SUFFERERS.
A LOCAL appeal. The Mayor (Mr Chrystall) conferred with the Mayor and Mayoress of Palmerston yesterday in connection with the relief fund in aid of (hose who have suffered los;-| through (he disastrous hush fires in the Raetihi district. Mr Chrystall was informed as to (he steps taken in other places to assist the, sufferers, and promised (o invite the citizens of Foxlon lo fall into line. The Mayor conferred with Airs F. Robinson (president of (he Foxton Ladies’ Patriotic Guild), and it was decided to solicit gifls in cash and clothing. The idea is to send two or three eases of necessary articles, such as good second-hand clothing, blankets, sheeting, and boots. Those desirous of contributing are* requested to forward their gifts to the Council Chambers on Tuesday. Money gifts will be thankfully received and duly acknowledged by the Mayor.
