FOXTON PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.

The meeting of the Executive of the Patriotic Society was held on Thursday evening last, Mr J. Chrystall in the chair, and there were also present Mrs Jas. Robinson, Messrs Rev. Raine, Dr. Mandl, F. Robinson, W. E. Barber, and A. J. Kellow. The matter of amalgamation was further and it was resolved to leave final decision to the animal general meeting, to be held on the 18th April, when the annual report and balance-sheet will be presented. An appeal was received from the National Association of French War Orphans, asking for assistance in (heir work in relieving distress in France. It was decided to allot the proceeds of the Patriotic Shop on Saturday, 18(h May, to the fund, amj. Mrs James Robinson and Mrs Arthur Green will organise the effort. The Secretary reported that the funds in hand amounted to £3,200, and a number of returned soldiers and their dependents had been assisted since last meeting. The proposal to hold a carnival for the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund wits deferred until the annual meeting. PATRIOTIC SHOP. The shop on Saturday last was in charge of Mrs John Robinson and Mrs Mandl, who report a good day, and acknowledge gifts from the following:—Mesdames Barr, Green, Jas. Robinson, Hall, Harvey, Chas. Robinson, Raine, Wyeth, A. S, Easton, Admore, Healey, Alex. Ross, Woodroofe, Henricksen, Misses Speirs, Robinson, Bryant, Messrs Hood, Rev. Raine, Chrystall, and T. Bowe. Competitions • were won as follows:—Cake, Mrs Hawke, with number 21; writing case, Mr McMurray, number 63; handkerchiefs, Mrs Freeman, number 18; plaque, Mrs Rand, nbfflbei* 33. ‘ Mrs Ale*.
