RESERVISTS’ APPEALS.

LOCAL AND DISTRICT CASES

The First AA T ellington Military Service Board dealt with the following local and district eases this week: — Richard Bunting, engine-driver, Foxton, appealed on the ground that he had two children, but admitted that at present he was only paying for the maintenance of one of them. He was placed by the Board in Class B. Arthur William Thomas Brewer, 20 years of age, farmer, of Foxton, stated that he had religious objections to fighting, but was willing to do non-combatant work. —The appeal was dismissed, and appellant Avas recommended . for non-combatant duty. Ludwig Edward Cbristophersen, flax worker, Shannon, stated that he was willing to go to the front if he obtained financial assistance towards the payment of rates, insurance, etc., on his property at Shannon. He had one adopted child, and wished to get the ordinary allowance. The appeal was adjourned, and the appellant was recommended for financial assistance. The Chairman stated that the appeal of T. H. E, T-illatt, farmer, of Glen Oroua, would he adjourned until the Alay sitting to enable appellant to get share milkers. The appeal of C. A. King, of Buunythorpe, was also adjourned until the Alay silting of the Board to enable appellant, to sell his property, the Board expressing the opinion that King would sooner or later have to go into camp. AVilfred Thomas Law, farmer, 'of Shannon, was granted exemption until June 20th. The appeal of Edwin Frederick Little, labourer, of Raijgiotu, was dismissed, appellant being ordered to go into camp on June 25th. Arthur Edgar Prior, labourer, of Shannon, withdrew his appeal. Fred. Evans, farmer, of Rangiotu, said his farm comprised about 30 acres, on which he ran 20 cows. He did the milking hilnself, and did not employ any labour. He wanted exemption altogether “if there Avas a chance,” He was not frightened to go, but ha (Flo slioav his wife that he had done his best to get out of it. —Appellant, was granted leave until June 25th.
