Manawatu Herald THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 1918. PUBLIC SWIMMING BATHS.
THE Borough Council has received plans and specifications for the construction of proposed public swimming baths. The engineer puts down the total cost of construction at £750. As we arc not in posses-* sion of thcAletails of the scheme, we are unable to go fully into the subject, suffice it to say that the engineer is well versed in this subject, and has a knowledge of the river. The Mayor staled that no further .steps would be taken until the site was secured from the Harbour Board. No difficulty is anticipated in this-connection, as we are informed Unit the Board are in full sympathy with the proposal. When this point is settled between the Board and Council, the Mayor will then submit to the public full details of the proposal. That the Mayor and Council, will receive the support and co-operation of the public goes without saying, and we sincerely hope that before the commencement of summer next year.the construction of the baths will be an established fact.
