FOOTBALL.

The first game for the Tui Ferns was played on the racecourse yesterday afternoon, and resulted in a win for the challengers —H. Perreau, A. Reid, R. McEweh R. Taylor, D. Morgan, W. Griffin, D. Ball (captain) —by 3 points, the scores being 11 points to 8. The holders were the first to score, Beaston securing the first try. Ball secured two trys for the challengers, one being 1 converted by Reid, making the scores at half-time B—3.8 —3. After half-time King scored for the holders, and Williams converted. The challenging team again added three points fo their score by Bull gaining another try, which made the game 11—8 in favour of the challenging team.
