FAILURE TO ENROL.

Hamilton, Yesterday. John Harrison, alias Hott, Smith, Wilson, was charged at the Police Court with failing to enrol, also answering questions in a misleading manner. He pleaded guilty. The police said that accused, a single man, was a deliberate shirker. He. had been working in the backblocks to evade service. Accused said he had kept out of the way because he knew the military wanted him. He did not want to go to the front, but was not afraid. He came from Melbourne six years ago. Defendant was fined £5 on each of the two charges.
