CARGO PILLAGING.
TWO SEAMEN PENALISED,
Another ease of cargo pillaging was brought before Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M., at the Wellington Magistrate’s Court yesterday, when James O’Neill and William John Budd, members of the crew of a, vessel now in port, were charged with the theft of a box of butter, valued at £3 18s.
The Magistrate said that it was evident that the men had been thieving. Budd was lined £5, to bo deducted from his wages, and O’Neill, who was an older man and probably knew more of the matter, was sentenced io three months’ hard labour.
