(Own Correspondent.) Pto, J. Woods, of the 35th Hein - foreements, arrived home yesterday for a few days’ leave. From word received to-day. Pie, W. Bowe and Pte. E. Fenwick have left New "Zealand for the front. Mrs W. H. Smith, of Linley, Monton, has received the sad intelligence of her' father's death at Christchurch. The deceased gentleman had reached the advanced age of ninety years, and had been in failing health of late, and his death was not unexpected. To Mr and Mrs Smith we extend our sympathy. Mrs G. R. Hall, late of' St. Helen’s Wellington, is at present on a visit to Moutoa. Mrs Hall is leaving New Zealand shortly for Samoa, in her professional capacity. The directors of Whitaunui, Ltd., met at Moutoa last week and journeyed out to the swamp to search for any trace of the disease that has lai(| waste the Riverdfile swamp.
