PUBLIC SWIMMING BATHS.

The Mayor (Mr Chrystall), accompanied by Mr R. Edwards, engineer, inspected the river bank yesterday, near the wharf, in order to locate a suitable site for the proposed swimming baths. A site was finally decided upon at the end of the railway line in the vicinity of the N.Z. Shipping Co.’s stores. We believe the engineer’s proposal is to supply the baths from am artesian How. Mr Edwards suggests that the baths he 70 yards by 30 yards, and his report will he submitted to the Council, when the proposal will be further discussed.
