ALTHOUGH the Government’s scheme for the settlement of soldiers on the land is yet only in its infancy, the land proclaimed for soldiers' settlements now totals over 388,900 acres. The acreage in the different land districts is:— Land District. Acres. Auckland 82,158 Hawke’s Bay 75,282 Taranaki 9,463 Wellington 73,465 Nelson 16,135 Marlborough 8,682 Westland 8,640 Canterbury 63,874 Otago 44,169 Southland 6,151 Total 388,019
