PATRIOTIC SPORTS AT SHANNON.
The (Shannon patriotic sports gathering, to he held on the recre-* ation grounds on Satui'day next, promises to he a great success. A. programme of the sports is pub-! lished in to-day’s issue, and include ed in it are running contests, wood chopping, Highland dancing events, and a tug-of-war, for all of wind} valuable trophies and cash prizes are offered. Competitions of all kinds, bran tubs, side shows, antj sweet and produce stalls. A baby voting contest is also on the pro-* gramme, and it is already in fulj swing. In the evening a grand put-, riutic entertainment will he held in the Maoriland Hall, it is hoped that the promoters will be favoured with fine weather, especially as the total proceeds will be donated to the Horow’heuua Wounded Soldier s’ Fimd.
