BREACH OF APIARIES ACT.
At Friday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, F. A. Jacobson, apiary inspector, charged W. E. Bullard Avith failing to comply Avith a direction given on October 18th, .1017, to take such measures as may be necessary to cure the disease of foul brood.
In giving evidence, the Inspector stnted that be inspected defendant’s apiary and found foul brood. He told Mr Bullard to take steps to cure, same, and also instructed him in this connection. Ho afterwards forAvarded him a Avritten notice to the effect that steps must be taken to cure the disease Avilbin a certain perio,d. After the expiry of the lime gi\ T en, his sub-inspector, Air Hobbs, advised him that his directions had not been carried out. He brought the present case as a Avarning to the people of the district Avho kept bees, aS if foul brood avus not cured it Avonld spread. G. A. Hobbs, sub-inspector, gave evidence as to inspecting defendant’s apiary and finding that no steps bad been taken to euro the disease, as directed by Mr Jacobson.
W. E. Bullard staled that he had falcon the necessary steps to cure the disease, and the hives Avere uoav all clean. When;he received the notice from the inspector he was very busy, and Avas unable to carry out the instructions within the time specified, but had done so as soon as he could.
The Magistrate inflicted a fine of £2, Avith costs 7s,
