FOXTON’S RAILWAY TIMETABLE.
THE AUCKLAND CONNECTION. Recently the local Borough Council passed a resolution asking that the Foxton-Palmersfon North railway time-table he amended in order to provide connections , with the Auckland express on at least two afternoons in the week. At last night’s meeting the following reply was read from the General Manager of Railways :—“With reference to the correspondence that has passed between us respecting the suggested alteration to the 2.25 p.m. Foxton-Palmerston North train on certain days, so as to make, a connection with the Wcllington-Auck-land express, I have the honour to inform you that in order to suit the station requirements at Palmerston North it would he necessary for the train to leave Foxton at 1.20 p.m., instead of 2.25 p.m., and this alteration would involve the 11.33 a.m. train from Palmerston North leaving at 10.5 a.m., which means that the connection from Palmerston North with the morning trains from Wanganui and Dannevirke would ho cut off on three days weekly, i.e., Monday, Tuesday and Friday, instead of two days as at present. If these facts are. understood and aecepted hy the local authorities at Foxton, the Department will offer no object ion to making the alteration.” Consideration of the matter was held over until next meeting.
