CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor). Sir.—l was astonished to read in a Palmerston paper that, a Foxton elei’k had appealed against military service on the ground of “public interest,” and that his appeal was adjourned sine die. This is pretty tough, in view of the fact that the company could find plenty of returned men capable of filling the position. Does the Appeal Board consider quill driving of gi’eater importance 'than food production or being employed in other essential industries. Appeals of this kind, in my humble opinion, should be dismissed quick and busy. These are the things which cause opposition to military service. It is not a fair thing to those of us engaged in more important work, and who are called upon to make greater sacrifices than the appellant in question. —Yours, etc., without appealing, . WILLING.
