The Department of Agriculture, Industries and Commerce lias received the following cablegram, dated London 22nd December, 1917, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note. —quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on Spot): Moat.—Demand is in excess of supply for all descriptions. Homekilled mutton and beef are in fail’ supply, selling at maximum priees. All descriptions of frozen meat are ■ very scarce. New Zealand no supplies available. Argentine mutton and Jamb small supplies 11L1, Beef quotations are nominal, chilled hindquarters 11. Id, forequarters 9LI Butter. —There is no material .change in the market. Danish, Irish creamery, and Dutch no supplies available. French no quotations, owing to supplies reported to have been taken by Government. Available supplies consist principally .of Argentine. Government priee 2525. Apples. —American apples arc in small supply at fixed prices. Cheese. —English cheddar 1425; New Zealand, Canadian, and States Flats 130 s Bd. Dutch under Government control, fixed priees full cream 160 s. Estimated Canadian cheese stocks London, Liverpool, and Bristol, 855 boxes, against 75,729 at same lime last year. Wheat, —Market is very quiet, mVing to the absence of Government offers. ’ Oats. —Market is slightly advanced owing to small supply. No. 2 white clipped American 595.
