A ROYAL MESSAGE.
APPRECIATIVE OF DOMINION’S LOYALTY. Wellington, Dec. 12. The Governor-General: is commanded by His Majesty the King to convey to the people of New Zealand an expression of His Majesty’s appreciation of their loyal and resolute spirit, as testified to by resolutions recording the inflexible determination of the inhabitants of this portion of His Majesty’s Overseas Dominions to continue the war to a victorious conclusion, which were passed at public meetings held throughout New Zealand, on the occasion of the third anniversary of the outbreak of the present wax’. The Governor-General has received the following telegram from the Secretary of State for the Colonies : Jerusalem was surrendered to Genex'al Allenby on December 9th after successful operations by onr Army in Palestine, against enemy positions which encircled the , Holy City. British officers, accompanied by Brilish, French, Italian and Indian Mohammedan Guards, are on their way to safegnai’d tlje city and the Holy places. lam confident that this great historical event will be hailed witli satisfaction throughout the Empire.—(Signed) LONG.
