SIR JOSEPH WARD ON TOUR.
The extensive travelling that can be compressed into a few days by a Cabinet Minister when a multipli - city of engagements have to be kept is illustrated by the itinerary arranged by Sir Joseph Ward for the first ten days of this month; The Minister for Finance left Wellington on Saturday morning, opened the new baths at Palmerston at midday, and later in Ihe day caught the Auckland express, arriving in Auckland on Sunday morning. On Monday and Tuesday he visited various centres in the Thames district. He connected with the Main Trunk express on Tuesday night in' order to keep an engagement at Napier on Wednesday evening. He will leave Hawke’s Bay next morning for Te Kuiti in order to fulfill his King Country engagements tomorrow. On Saturday next he will be present at a function at Palmerston North, and the same night he will leave Wellington for Invercargill in order to attend the Southland Agricultural Show on the following Tuesday and Wednesday. The total travelling in the ten days comprises about 1,9(50 miles by rail, 175 miles by steamer, and about 50 miles by motor.
