KAUANGAROA MURDER.

BENNIER SENTENCED TO DEATH. Wanganui, Nov. 27. At the Supreme Court to-day, before Air Justice Edwards, the trial was commenced of Frank Bennier for the murder of his wife. It is alleged that on 9th September, at Kauangaroa, prisoner attacked six persons during the night with an axe. Mrs Bennier died in consequence of the injuries received. Evidence for the Crown was on the lines of that given in the Lower Court, witnesses staling that the prisoner was a nuui of intemperate habits, who previously.', threatened to “do for his wife.” Wanganui, Nov. 28. The jury found Bennier guilty of murder, and he was sentenced to death.
