A presentation has been made to Mr R. Thompson, avlao has been driving the mail coach through Kangaroo Valley, between Mossvale and NoAvra (Ncav South Wales) for more than forty years with mails and passengers. He has travelled during that period more, than 436,800 miles, or equal to about 18 times • round the Avorld, and this Avithout loss of any mail matter or injury to a single passenger. Colonel Springforth, of the Commonwealth Medicals, declares that 6,000 Australians have married in Great Britain, and the temptation to Aved abroad already has proved irresistible to a large number of Ncav Zealand warriors. Mr Gerard, in his book on his life in Berlin, says, describing a visit to the Court: —With each of us was a •representative of the Emperor’s household to introduce the people of the Court, and an army officer to introduce the people of the Army. The officer assigned to me had the extraordinary na'iue of der Pfortrier von der Hollo, Avhich means the “porter of hell.” I have often Avondered since by Avhat prophetic instinct he Avas sent to introduce me to the tAvo years’ and a,half of Avorld-Avar Avhich I experienced in Berlin. This unfortunate officer, a most charming gentleman, Avas killed early in the Avar.
