MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.
LOCAL APPEALS. ; The First Wellington Military Service Appeal Board opened its sitting at Palmerston North yesterday. The cases heard included the following local appeals:—• Norman Ostrich Basbose, .porter, Foxton, appealed on the ground that he was a .Syrian. Appellant stated that he was a Syrian, and had been in New Zealand a little over three years. lie came from San Francisco, He had not been naturalised. Appellant’s father was married in Syria, and went to New York, and later had come to New Zealand. Appellant. was born in Lebanon, in Syria. The appeal was allowed. The appeal of William Hamer, of Foxton, was formally dismissed, appellant being classed medically unfit. A PPEALS WITHDRAWN. Joseph P. Smith (Mr Oakley) withdrew his appeal, and asked for extension of time until February 13th, which was granted. Alfred Fowler withdrew his appeal, and was granted leave until February <»th.
