GREY ELECTION.
WRIT WILL PROBABLY ISSUE NEXT WEEK.
It is understood that the resignation of Mr P. C. Webb, member for Grey, is now on the way to Mr Speaker., If it is in order it may be taken for granted that the writ for a new election will be issued ueyt week. Not less than twelve days’ notice must be given of the election,* and the writ must be returnable in twenty-eight days. It is usual to allow a week after the polling day in which to prepare the official returns, and in this case it will no doubt be considered desirable to have the returns in and everything washed up a few days before thq Christmas holidays. Assuming that it is decided to. make the writ returnable on December 19th, which seems a probable date, election day may be Wednesday, December 12th.
