BOWLING.

A meeting of the committee of the local bowling club was held on. Thursday evening. It was decided that returned soldiers, whilst on, pension, be allowed the privileges of the green. The proposal of the Shannon Club that annual triangular competitions between Shannon, Foxton and Levin be held was endorsed. The proposals are that each year three matches be played, one on each of the three greens, the home club playing four rinks against two rinks each from the other two clubs. The secretary was instructed to get into communication with the Shannon and Levin Clubs, with a view to arranging dates, etc. The opening of the Levin green* will take place on Monday ( Labour Day). Foxton will be at the opening by one rink. The local Club has the first challenge in for the Dixon Cup, at present held by a Palmerston rink skipped by J. A. Nash, and the game will be played at an early date.
