ST. MARY’S HOME, KARORI.
An “at home,”' organised by Mrs Frank Robinson, Avas held in the supper-room of the Toavh Hall on Wednesday last. The room had been tastefully decorated, and a large number of ladies attended and spent a very enjoyable afternoon. Afternoon tea Avas provided, and during the afternoon music and songs Avere rendered by Mesdnmes Freeman, Teviotdale and Raine, and Mr S. B. Collins, and violin solos by Mr C. Simmons, while Mr S. B. Collins played the accompaniments. An observation table competition was field, the prizes being Avon by Mrs S. Easton and Mrs McMurray. In the course of a I'cav remarks, the Rev. W. Raine told of the valuable Avork being done by the homes and the purpose of the gathering. The homes consist of lavo branches, one for girls from 14 years to 21 years, the other being a cottage home for girls of 7 years old to 14 years. The nature of the Avork is rescue work from a life of vice and evil surroundings, The homes are always ’full, and another property has been "bought to extend the Avork. As a result of the gathering, a sum of nearly £8 Arid be forivarded to Wellington.
