WRECK OF THE EUNICE.
“ CREW OF FOREIGNERS. Wanganui, Oct. 4. The finding of 1 lie Court of Inf|iiiry into the Avreck of the Euniee Ims been issued. Captain Holm is held responsible. The following rider was added: The Court desires to draw the attention of the Minister of Marine to the fact that the master of the scow Eunice, and both mates, as well as four members of the crew, are by birth foreigners, and that the second mate at the helm at the time the vessel struck is unnaturaliscd. While there is no evidence to show that the present loss can be attributed to any of these causes, the Court desires to express the opinion that in view of the vital importance to the community at the present time of all ships and shipping, no British ships should be allowed to be so officered and manned. The master was ordered to pay £2O towards the cost of the inquiry. His certificate was returned.
