In Parliament on Friday night, reference to the recent court-mar-tial at Featherston Camp was made by Mr Witty, who raised the question of the nationality of Captain Hotop, Lieutenant Ulrich, and Major Sweetzer, whose names figured in the case. Sir James Allen said that the question of Hotop’s nationality had been up before, and lie was not going to refer to it again. As to Major Sweetzer, he had been brought out from Home, and he was a competent man. For 400 years his family had resided tn Britain. Regarding Lieut. Ulrich, whom ho had known since he was a baby, his father had ultimately become a professor in the Otago University. Mr Witty: He showed his commonsense. Sir James Allen: Yes. He became a Britisher. What did it matter if he was born in Germany and became a naturalised Britisher? Mr Witty: My'officers can do no ,wrong. You arc talking a lot of bunkum. Sir James Allen: I am not talking bunkuin. The blood of their fathers is British blond, and I hope we will have no move of this kind of thing. The Minis!er slated he could not' understand why there were men who were trying lo cause discontent in the House. He paid a tribute to the Army Service Corps, also the Y.M.C.A.j and said that everyone should he proud of what was being done for them.
