SIX O’CLOCK CLOSING.

The Sale of Liquor Restriction Bill, which contains the six o’clock closing clause, is at present before the Statutes Revision Committee of the Legislative Council. It was indicated in the Council that the Bill could not be reported before Thurs - day next, since a great deal of evidence had to be heard and some difficult-points studied, The Committee is understood to be engaged upon the knotty problem of adjusting rents as between landlords and licensees under the conditions that the Bill will create. Possibly other amendments to the Bill will bo suggested, but there is no likelihood of anv change in the closing hours already approved by the House being proposed by the Committee.
