RAILWAY SHUNTER KILLED.

_£ e A distressing accident occurred in the Palmerston North railway yards yesterday afternoon, whereby a shunter named Robert E. Smith lost his life. Deceased was engaged in oiling points during the course of shunting operations, A loaded wagon was shunted off from an engine to the road where he was working, but owing to .the'high wind which was blowing, be did not bear it coming, and it struck him on the head, causing almost instant death. Deceased leaves a wife and two children.
