ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Invercargill, Sept. 24. The donth occurred on Sunday of Mr AY. B. Scandrctt, aged 77, for many years town dork, and six times Mayor. lie held many public positions, and was a prominent Oddfellow and Freemason. Dunedin, Sept. 24. Samuel Chant, aged 41, labourer, was killed at AVaitahuna through a rock falling on him white rahhiting. Auckland, Sept, 24. Alfred Henry Hawkins, a-middle-aged man, while alighting from a train at Takapuna before the carriage slopped, fell, fracturing his skull, and died shortly afterwards. He leaves a widow and seven children.
