NEW ZEALAND HEMP.
MAXIMUM PRICE .FIXED,
The following cablegram with regard To the price of New Zealand hemp has been received by the Prime Minister from the High Commissioner, London: —“Hemp Controller nowradvises that if is proposed to fix maximum price of New Zealand hemp at £1 per ton higher than the figures before mentioned. Tow. —Fixed prices as follows: No. 1, £59 por ton; No. 2, £56 per ton; No. 3, £54 per ton.”
Messrs Levin and Co. also received cable advice from London on Saturday that the Imperial Government has fixed the maximum prices at which New Zealand hemp can be sold in London, as follows: —Good fair, £B4 per ton; high fair, £B2 per ton; low fair, £Bl per ton. The prices arc c.i.f. London, war insurance paid by the shipper. The period for which the prices are fixed is not stated.
