BOROUGH FINANCES.

The Borough Treasurer reported at last night’s Council meeting as under: — The following amounts were received during the month of August, jjnd placed to credit as under; District fund account £472 16s lOd, cemetery account £3 10s Od. The balances of the various funds at the Bank of New Zealand as at the 31st August, 1917, wore as follow; District fund account, debit, £416 6s Bd, cemetery account, credit, £ls 14s lOd, and tho ledger balances at the same date as follows: —Cemetery, £ls ils lOd, contractor’s deposit £3O, hospital and charitable aid £31145, library £ls 4s Gd, sanitation £164 8s 9d, Town Hall £27 Is lid, Whirokino bridge interest £ll, Shannon bridge interest £7 5s lOd, Council Chamber loan interest £3 9s, Whirokino bridge additions £l7 13s Bd, roads and streets No. 2 £6 17s Bd, Beach road loan interest £33 2s 9d, all in credit, a total of £363 13s 3d. The accounts at debit arc; Imprest cash £lO, gas works £462 18s 7d, general £lO4 17s 9d, reserves £1 16s 3d, roads and streets loan interest £l2 7s 7d, and gas works interest £172 4s lid, total £764 5s Id.
