SHIRKER IMPRISONED.
Christchurch, Ang. 28. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, Reginald Raymond Smith, bootmaker, aged 23, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for failing to enrol under the Afilitary Service Act. Sab-Inspector Afnllany said the ease was a very had one, for accused was the most persistent shirker he had had to deal with. lie had steadfastly evaded having his name recorded. With a view to escaping enrolment he had been dodging about from Christ church to Oamaru and back again, and to many different places, and had only been arrested that day.
