The House of Representatives will be engaged for most of this week with (he financial delude. Next week the Government will bring down The legislation embodying if- linancinl proposals, and it is probable that they uill all be embodied iii one Bill, a- has been the case since the beginning of the war. Since lie has been Treasurer. Sir Joseph Ward has always preferred io provide for all his taxes in one measure, and lie will probably follow [lie sana* procedure this year. The next business of the House is likely lo be the Liquor Bill, in winch Tic Government will make known its proposals on the hotel hour- pnest ion.
When (his Pill is disposed of, the most import aid of the remaining business for the session will ho Sir •ins. ..Mien’s Bill to amend the present military pensions law. 'flic Government lias committed itself io an increase in the allowances to be paid to the dependants of soldiers, bn! legislation is not necessary to legalise an increase in (he allowance. This can be done by regulation, but it is probable that the provision which the Government inlands to make will be mentioned when the Finance Bill is before the Hon-e.
