“Who could .Imagine a Government now without Mr Massey and Sir Joseph Ward.’ - ’ asked Mr E. Xewman. M.P. for Langilikei, in the House of Representatives, in the course of a defence of the Coalition Government as the only possible one at the present lime. “Who could imagine a Government without the lion. G. W. Russell? (Laughter). 1 could not now/’ (Laughter). Mr G, W. Forbes (Hnrunui): “Another bouquet!" (Laughter). “It's heller than a hunch of carrots." (Renewed laughter). He could not imagine, any other Government daring tin- war, declared * Mr Newman. A member; “The best bouquet yet 1" Mr J. S. Dickson (Parnell); “Everlasting flowers, these!" (Laughter). “When,” continued Mr Xewman, “His Majesty the King recognised (ho service- of Sii* James Allen by n knighthood, we all fell that it was well earned,” Mr J. Payne (Grey Lynn); “Who recognised them?” Mr Xewman: “llis Majestv tho King." Mr Payne: “Who? It's all fake." (“Oh!" and laughter). Later Mr 'Payne, said, hy way of correction, “Mr Speaker, it is nanMailing to hear members in (his House talk of ‘linancial wizards,’ and generally swelling the heads of Minister.- even more than they swell naturally,'’ (Laughter).
