THE BELLIGERENT NATIONS.
Fifteen nations are now in alliance at war againsU Germany and her three allies. After Venizelos formed his Provisional Government last year he declared war on Bulgaria, and Greek Nationalists joined the allied forces in Macedonia; though there has not been any formal declaration, Greece has been officially declared to be in the ranks of the Allies. Most of the members of the Great Alliance are at war with all the Central group, but the United. States is at war with Germany only. Following is a list of the nations now at war, with the date of entry in each case; — Entente Powers: —ItJf'l: -Servia, July 28; Russia, August 1; France, August 3; Belgium, August 4; Great Britain, August 4; Montenegro, August 7; Japan, August 23; 1915: Italy, May 23; 191(1; Portugal, March 10; Rounmnia, August 28; Vonizelists, November 24; 1917: United States, April 0; Cuba, April 7; Panama, ; Greece, June ;. Siam, July 25. Central Alliance. —1914; AustriaHungary, July 28; Germany, August 1; Turkey, November 1; 1915: Bulgaria, October 5.
The following have broken off diplomatic relations with Germany this year: —China, March 14; Bolivia, April 14; Guatemala, April 28; Liberia, May 9; Honduras, May IS; Nicaragua, May 9; Brazil, Juno 2; Ifayti, June 19; and Santo Domingo.
