RESERVIST FINED.
FAILURE TO NOTIFY CHANGE OF ADDRESS. At (he Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning, William Henry Douey Avas charged under t he Military Service Act Avith failing to notify a change of address from Manga mahoe to Foxton. Defendant pleaded not guilty, and stated that he left Palmerston North for Mangamahoe in August last, and notilied the Government Statistician of his new address. He remained there about three months, and then returned to Palmerston North. Whilst there he avus negotiating for a property at Eketalnma, but nothing came of it, and he then came on to Foxton. About six Avceks after his arrival in Foxton ho notilied the Government Statistician of the change in his address from Mangamahoe to Foxton. Witness stated that he had been “turned doAvn" in England some years ago for both the Army and Navy. The Magistrate said that the Act provided that a change of address must be notilied Avithiu fourteen days, and defendant had not done so Avithiu the time. However, as he had previously notilied one change he Avould only indict a small penalty. Defendant Avould be fined 20s, Avith 7s costs.
