WANDERING STOCK.

At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning, before Mr W. Cf. Kenrick, S.M., the Borough Ranger (James Me Knight) proceeded against a female resident for committing a breach of - the Borough by-laws by allowing cattle to stray on the roads. Defendant did not appear, James McKnight stated that defendant's cows were repeatedly allowed to stray on the roads, and were a nuisance to residents. He had impounded them no less than five times during the month, but this had no effect. The Magistrate said that as this ease was the. first of its kind thathad been brought forward locally he would only inflict a small tine as a warning. If there were further cases, however, the penalty would be increased until the practice was discontinued. Defendant would bo lined ss, with costs 7s.
