AX ABANDONED CHILD
The Auckland police are inquiring for I he parents or guardians of a boy, aged four or five, who was loft by a woman at the Globe Theatre there mi Friday afternoon. There has been no inquiry either at the theatre or of the police as to the whereabouts of the child since he was discovered. The assistant manager of the theatre, Air A. Woods, informed the police that ho noticed a woman enter the theatre with the child at 1.50 p.m. Twice the child came to the doorway, being told to go back, alid being seen after the second occasion sealed beside a soldier and his wife. The two latter left the (heal re at 5.30, and when asked as to the identity of the child, disclaimed all knowledge. Search of the theatre failed to reveal (lie woman who accompanied the child to the entertainment, She was not seen to leave the building. The boy, who appears to be weak mentally and physically, is unable to give any particulars of himself, He has a very thin face, fair complexion, and golden hair. Clothing, whieh is of poor quality, consists of a grey tweed suit and hat, grey overcoat, brown sucks, and sandals. He has an impediment in his speech. From appearances he lias been brought up in poor surroundings. The woman who accompanied him is aged about 38 or 40, of medium build, si't. high, and dark in complexion. She was shabbily dressed in a dark costume and fawn jacket. At present the child is being cared for at the Salvation Armv Home.
