A TRAGIC SUICIDE.

Borne tragic details were brought to light at the inquest at Cambridge on Tuesday last on the body of ('apt. 11. \V. Sleddon, an ex-lmpe-rial Army otlicer, who was found dead at his home. Mrs Sleddon gave evidence that during the past few weeks she had been living apart from her husliand. When she returned home to take possession of her personal effects her husband entered the room and tired a shot at her, the charge passing through her hat. Ho was about to lire a second shot, but she implored him not to shoot, promising him that she would come back and live with him again. Sleddon answered that it was too late, and said he intended to shoot himself. Ills wife meanwhile, escaped, and shortly afterwards heard a shot. Deceased left a tragic note, in which he said he “could stand things no longer.” A verdict was returned that deceased had committed suicide while suffering from mental derangement.
