MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.
A meeting of the; Moutoa Drainage Board was held on Thursday evening. Present; Messrs B. (5. Gower (chairman), J. Chrystall, AV. E. Barber, and O. Kobinson. The Clerk reported that the overdraft on the general account was £275 4s IGd. This included all the ordinary drain cleaning for the year, together with the 92 chains of main drain at the top end. The total length was 743 chains, exclusive of the 92 chains, and the average cost was 4s 7d per chain. There was a credit to Interest Account of £9 2s Id. The same rates as last year, general three-farthings and special one-half-penny, would produce £431 and £248 respectively. Apart from the main drain Hoodgates, this should leave enough to carry on, but, of course, if drain cleaning' is carried on before the end of the financial year there will be the usual moderate overdraft. Steps should be taken at this meeting to levy rates, as the following amounts will be charged against interest account: £ls Os (id on July 19th, and £lO7 16s lid on August Ist. Accounts as follows were passed for payment: Drain cleaning £177 Is Gd, Borough Council rent £6 10s Od, and accident insurance -£4 16s Od. The balance-sheet was submitted and adopted, and it was decided to strike a general rate of (three-far-things in the £, and to collect onehalfpenny in the £ of the special . rate. The matter of the flood-gates was held over until next meeting.
