MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.
DISTRICT CASES. The following district appeals were dealt with at the sitting of the First Wellington Appeal Board at Palmerston yesterday:— APPEAL DISMISSED. William Joseph Moynihan, dairy farmer, Shannon (Mr Cooper). This appeal was heard previously on March 12th, Since then his brother had gone info camp. Otherwise his circum-tances were the same as at the previous hearing. To Captain Walker: His brother who returned invalided was totally incapacitated for outside work. Appellant was married in July, 1915, and had one child. Captain Walker stated that men with responsibilities and who obviously did mil marry to avoid liability for service wore given consideration similar to Second Division men. In the ordinary course of event.-', men with one child would he called up at New Year. It was suggested a manager should be engaged now. Mr McLaren "aid too many men did nothing until they appeared before the Hoard, though in many ca" 0" Second Division men were already making their arrangements in view of the approaching lime when they would he (‘ailed up. Michael Moynihan, father, of appellant, stated he had made no effort to replace his son, pending the Board’s decision. Milking on shar- ('" was alright if you could get a reliable man, hut they were hard to find. Appeal dismissed, and leave granted until September 18lh. IIIMATANGI FARMER. Henry Walker, dairy farmer, lliiiiatangi t.Mr W. L. Fitzherberl). This appeal was adjourned from March J lit h. He was milking 59 cows, The property leasehold. To Captain Walker; He would sell out if lie had to go to cam]). Appeal dismissed, and leave granted until AuguM 20th. A MOITOA CASE. ’William Henry Smith, farmer, Monloa (Mr Cooper). Decision was reserved until December 80th. APPEAL FROM OROUA DOWNS. Richard John Wilton, farmer, Oroua Downs. This appeal was adjourned from the Ist May. His position was unchanged since last hearing of (lie case. Decision reserved until December 80th. A FOXTON EARMER APPEALS. George Ralph Nisbctt, dairy farmer. Foxion. This case was adjourned from May 291 h. The position was about the same as at the previous hearing. Deed sioti Reserved until December 89 th. appeal from shannon. Ronald Joseph Law, farmer, Shannon. This appeal was previously heard on March 12th. Appellant stated ho would ho milking .77' cows next season. To Captain Walker; The farm belonged to live of them. His brother would be 20 in December, hut he thought him too young to take over (lie management of the farm, and he would, of course, he liable for service in December. His father had 180 acres, running sheep and calile, and he had definitely-stated that he could not undertake the management of appellant’s place. He also did shearing for neighbouring farms. Decision reserved.
