WOMEN POLICE.
Auckland, June 2-1. A. deputation representing several women’s organisations waited on Hon. Anhui' .Myers asking Ins support in furtherance of a proposal for the appointment of women police. Air Myers replied that he would confer with Mr Ilerdumu atioui it. Personally he thought it highly desirable that women should he appointed with power H deal with certain plumes of life touched upon by the deputation, lie could ni'l, however, support any proposal that such women police should be given the power of ordinary policemen. He would not approve, for instance, of lheir arresting a man. Incidentally the Aiini.-ler staled that we had ( very reason to be gratthed will: the pre-enl Police Department, which did its work thoroughly :md ’.veil. The work of women police would he supplementary to that of the existing force.
