HINTS FOR COLD WEATHER.

Many women and girls dread the cold; some people indeed seem so constituted that it is detrimental to their health, and they arc never quite “themselves” till Avarm Aveathor comes again. It is Aviso to take precautions against the inclemency of the Aveathcr. But that does not mean shutting all the AvindoAvs and making up the lire! It is Avor.se than useless, for by so doing the body is made more -sensitive to every Avind that Ijlgavs. The clothing is an important matter. It should be all avoo! if possible, yet not heavy; for liefiA’y clothing weakens both the nervous and muscular system. The stockings should be Avarm, and the boots soft, though strong, Avith fairly thick soles. It should be remembered, too, Avhen going to a heated church or place of entertainment, that it is Aviser to take a Avarm wrap than to wear a thick coat Avhich must be Avorn indoors. And then the cold bath! Don’t be afraid of it. If the Avater is actually icy, add just enough Avarm to prevent *a shock if you are not used to it, but not enough to take tvway the sting of it, or you Avill feel shivery after it, instead of gloAving and Avarm, and Avill be likely to take cold. There tire few things like tint cold morning tub for a prepai’ation for facing a cold day. A brisk walk each day is a great help towards keeping up the general health and improving the circulation, so that the cold is not felt to nearly the same extent. Perhaps the most, common ailment in Avintry weather is cold in the head. This is not nearly so often caused by getting chilled as by sitting in stuffy buildings or railway carriages; and this should he remembered.
