TO FORM. FOOT!'ATIL Al hi si night's Council meeting :i Idler wjis read from I lie Rev. Falher Corley, asking ihe Council lo eoiislnid a eonerele kerbing alone’ Ihe frontages of Ihe Convent and Church properties in Cook Street, and from the corner of Cook Sired alone Johnston Sired, as .far as the Catholic School, a distance of fIH .chains. If the Council would do this, he was prepared to make the .footpath 10IT. wide, with not less than four inches fall from the fence to the kerbing, when linished to present a level surface, and he not less than four inches in thickness. Also |o level the hill in Johnston Sired and protect same with scrub. He would find all materia! repaired, and would complete the work within six months of (he kerbing being put down. The Mayor said he was glad to meet such an enthusiastic gentleman as Father Corley. The offer made was a particularly good one, and it appeared to him the Council would be very foolish not to accept it. If Foxton had more men with the energy and enthusiasm of Father Corley the (own would have progressed more than it had done. He moved that (he request of the Rev. Father Corley he granted in accordance with (he terms of his letter, and that the work of putting down the concrete kerb be commenced as soon as a properly executed agreement is entered into. Cr Stevenson: It is a first-class chance, and we should not let it sliji. Cr MeColl also agreed that it was a good proposition.
The motion was carried unanimouslv.
