POLICE RAID ON .ALLEGED BOOKMAKERS.

Wellington, Last Night. The,police raided a hairdresser's shop kept by Gilbert Henry Price, sftf Lambton Quay, to-day, and seized hooks, etc., allegedly used for betting purposes. They arrested Price, charged with keeping a gaming house, and John Henry West and We Bttki Smith charged with assisting Brice in Hie conduct of a gaming house. They also took in charge eight others found on the premises. All Hie accused wore taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded on hail (ill to-morrow morning. • Later in Hie afternoon the police arrested Albert William Organ, bookseller, upon a charge of belling (.n licensed premises. Organ was admitted lo bail, and will also appear to-morrow morning.
