COAL FAMINE IN WELLINGTON.

Wellington, May 18. The Wellington Gas Co. announces that it has barely a fortnight’s supply of coal in hand. Owing to shortage of stocks it has been compelled to use reserve supplies which have been lying on the ground for years, and which gives inferior gas, it is hoped shortly to land a shipment to last an additional ten or twelve days, but the position is very uncertain.
